Grassroots Pilot Program and Results: how your community can make a difference
Updated: Sep 12, 2020
Our pilot program conducted in the spring of 2010 successfully produced significant measurable results. Location was Gilbert West, a continuation high school in Buena Park that is part of the Anaheim Union High School District. Gilbert West’s 2009 Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) report shows that it had failed to meet all its annual measurable objectives (CA Dept of Ed-Data, www.ed-data.k12.ca.us). Do to being limited to only the personal funds of The CUT Studios’ staff members, only 3 students out of a population of 768 students were selected. The average GPA improvement among the three students selected improved by 54% over their previous quarter grades. One particular student who had a severe attendance issue of attending only 1 to 2 times a week, began showing up to school 4 to 5 times a week. The pilot program was filmed and documented by Chapman University Film School. The CUT Studios Documentary can be viewed on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvBTl5NwiV8)
